Indian shares opened higher on Friday, with benchmark indexes staging a technical rebound after a sharp selloff pushed them into oversold territory and to multi-year lows in the previous session.
The Nifty 50 rose 0.49% to 22,339.50, while the BSE Sensex added 0.46% to 71,906.22, as of 9:22 a.m. IST.
The Sensex closed the previous session at a 32-month low, while the Nifty slipped to its lowest level in 18 months.
Eleven of the 16 major sectors logged gains at the open, with IT index gained 2.9%, led by a 3.5% rise in Tata Consultancy Services, after it reported acceleration in AI-related revenue and growth in international business in the September quarter.
"With a favourable base and good exit rate from FY2026, even a minor growth acceleration from the September quarter should lead TCS to constant currency organic growth matching peers such as Infosys and HCLTech," said JPMorgan analysts.
"While TCS' execution has been underwhelming over the last 36 months, the signing momentum and net hiring suggest some visibility."
Benchmark gains, however, were capped by a surge in oil prices on intensifying Mideast tensions and supply worries due to a hurricane approaching the US Gulf coast.
