NEW
DELHI, INDIA: The
ABVP secured three of the four top positions in the latest student body
election, while an Independent candidate won the Vice-President post, according
to the results provided.
The ABVP
candidate won the President election with 24,576 votes, ahead of the NSUI
candidate, who secured 22,523 votes. The Left received 5,377 votes, while ASAP
polled 1,388 votes.
The Vice-President
contest produced a different outcome, with an Independent candidate securing 30,615
votes. The ABVP candidate finished with 16,910 votes, followed by NSUI with 4,313
votes and the Left with 2,383 votes.
The ABVP
continued its strong performance in the remaining contests. Its candidate won
the Secretary post with 21,650 votes, while NSUI received 14,869 votes. The
Left secured 8,734 votes and ASAP polled 7,639 votes.
The Joint-Secretary
race was more closely contested. The ABVP candidate emerged ahead with 16,615
votes, followed by SCS with 15,778 and NSUI with 15,206. The Left candidate
received 5,837 votes.
Overall,
the results give the ABVP control of three of the four principal positions — President,
Secretary and Joint-Secretary. The Vice-President position has gone to an
Independent candidate, identified in the election details as a former NSUI
rebel.
The
President's contest was among the closest of the four major races. The ABVP
candidate's margin over the NSUI candidate was just over 2,000 votes, while the
remaining candidates collectively secured several thousand votes.
The
Vice-President election, by contrast, produced a clear lead for the Independent
candidate, who received 30,615 votes. The result places an Independent
representative in one of the four top positions despite the ABVP winning three
other offices.
The
Secretary election also saw a sizeable lead for the ABVP candidate, who
finished ahead of NSUI by more than 6,700 votes. The Joint-Secretary contest
was significantly tighter, with fewer than 1,000 votes separating the ABVP and
SCS candidates.
The
overall result reflects a varied electoral picture across the four positions,
with different candidates and organisations recording significantly different
levels of support depending on the post.
The
election outcome now sets the leadership structure for the student body, with
representatives from the ABVP and an Independent candidate occupying the four
principal offices.
The
results also underline the competitive nature of the contests, particularly in
the President and Joint-Secretary races, where the leading candidates faced
substantial challenges from their closest rivals.
With the
counting completed and the four principal positions decided, attention is
expected to turn towards the new leadership's priorities and the issues it will
take up during its term.
