NEW DELHI — India’s gross Goods and Services Tax (GST) collections rose 14.7% year-on-year in September, reaching ₹2.04 lakh crore compared to ₹1.77 lakh crore recorded during the same period last year.
The robust revenue growth was driven by domestic economic activity and import tax receipts. Gross domestic GST revenue expanded by 10.1% year-on-year to reach ₹1.38 lakh crore. Revenue from imported goods recorded an even steeper increase, jumping 25.9% year-on-year to ₹65,525 crore from ₹52,031 crore in September 2025.
Breakdown figures indicate that Central GST (CGST) stood at ₹37,762 crore, State GST (SGST) reached ₹45,363 crore, and Integrated GST (IGST) totalled ₹1.20 lakh crore. After adjusting for tax refunds, net GST collection for the month stood at ₹1.77 lakh crore, registering an 18.1% year-on-year increase. The ongoing double-digit growth highlights strong consumer demand and economic momentum entering the peak festive season.
